To negotiate is to debate and try to reach an agreement on a subject or group of issues between two or more parties. It’s a form of two-way communication in which both sides share their perspectives, interests, and concerns to find a middle ground that works for everyone. Salary, contract terms, resource distribution, and individual preferences are a few of the many topics that can be negotiated in various contexts, including business, government, and personal relationships.
In most situations, the point of a negotiation is to work out a solution that satisfies the needs of both sides.
